Before starting classes she had trouble with every day household chores and now she is stronger and able to do more than before with ease!

This student has taken her self care to the next level by attending 3-5 classes a week. She has been attending classes with a positive focus on herself, improving flexibility, improving her lung capacity, learning tools to stay present and find a sense peace.

She has been living with the unknown progression of the disease Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. She attributes her improvements to her sessions at Yoga Born. Yoga classes with the therapeutic-alignment focus (never heated or never fast) and meditation sessions with Bonnie Zaman of HarmoniousSelf.com

Scleroderma is a group of rare diseases that involve the hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues — the fibers that provide the framework and support for your body.

In some people, scleroderma affects only the skin. But in many people, scleroderma also harms structures beyond the skin — such as blood vessels, internal organs and the digestive tract. Signs and symptoms vary, depending on which structures are affected. No drug has been developed that can stop the underlying process of scleroderma. But a variety of medications can help control scleroderma symptoms or help complications.

Scleroderma symptoms vary greatly from individual to individual; the manner in which each person responds to treatment also varies greatly; and there are many treatment options.

A person diagnosed with scleroderma may feel alone and uncertain about where to turn for help. He or she may experience a number of other feelings and emotional reactions from time to time, including initial shock or disbelief, fear, anger, denial, self-blame, guilt, grief, sadness or depression. Sue greatly appreciates the community support, encouragement and prayers since starting her yoga practice two years ago.
